The sub-soil also contains several Jurassic prospects with high potential.
The license of Les Moussières was awarded to Celtique in March 2008 for a period of five years. It is located in the departments of Ain and Jura and covers an area of 1599 sq. km.
The sites of Chandelière, located in the municipalities of Corcelles and Lantenay, have indicated the presence of oil from wells drilled several decades ago, however they were not considered commercially viable at that time. With the increase in energy demand and the developments in technology it is now possible to exploit these reserves and an appraisal well is planned in 2015. Proximity to the refinery Lyon may be the best option to distribute this energy resource at the local level.
Further information on the Les Moussières permit and our planned operations there can be found on our dedicated project website via the link below:
The permit of Pontarlier was obtained in September 2010 for a period of five years. It covers an area of 1470 km² in the department of Haut Doubs.
Celtique is currently conducting geological studies to evaluate the potential presence of hydrocarbons, located in the Buntsandstein sandstone (geological period of Triassic).
