Operations in the UK

Licensing and planning

Celtique has equity in four onshore UK licences, in the East Midlands, known as Petroleum Exploration and Development Licences (PEDL). These licences were issued by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) as part of the UK Governments 13th Landward Licensing Round. Three of these licences are operated by Egdon Resources PLC and one by Europa Oil and Gas (Holdings) PLC.

In order to undertake any exploratory drilling the Operator has to secure planning consent from the relevant local authority. This process involves the Operator undertaking detailed consultations with the neighbouring communities as well as satisfying the council’s planning team that they can operate safely, effectively and with the minimum environmental impact.

The regulatory environment

The Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) which is an executive agency sponsored by the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the Environment Agency (EA), the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Minerals Planning Authority approve or regulate our operations. During the exploration phase, we will be subject to regular inspections and will need to report on our activities on a weekly basis, according to well established procedures.

By committing to operating at the highest standards and working openly with local communities, we aim to give countries the means to develop their own resources
